The NET team returned after their mid-year break and the topic they were greeted with was... big!!
~~Heaven~~
´´´´Purgatory´´´´
>>>Hell<<<
Compass discussed Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven (in that order), covering points from what are they like, reading from some awe-inspiring saints who have seen either one or all of those places, and discovering 'Pope-Quotes' with great intelligence, but so easy to understand too.
We also talked briefly about how people often don't believe that one or the other exists. Some prefer to think there is no Hell, while others despair of a Heaven. Most don't know about Purgatory at all!
Yet these places are real and every single person is going to see Heaven (or... the other one.... gulp) at the end of their life.
It really pays to be educated!!

Emmanual Worship's Visit To Casino
“HERE’S EMMANUAL WORSHIP!!!”
Bec (leader of the Lismore Net team) introduced the God-filled Christian band.
The band got five children up to sing Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”. They positively belted it out, with help from other young people in the audience.
Up the front young people formed a big mosh pit - a gathering where people jump up and down together - they all pointed up to God, lifting up joy filled hearts.
The night continued with more songs until Pat Keady spoke. The youngest sat up very close to the stage, absorbed in his every word. He reminded us to all to remove all barriers to Jesus in our lives and that we can never be too filled with the love of Jesus. A beautiful video, based on Emmanuel Worship’s song “thank you”, was played. It showed young people thanking God for all that He has done for them.
The band burst into song again and by the end everyone was exhausted, but obviously filled with a deep joy and love for God.
Emmanuel Worship should be back towards the end of the year at Coffs Harbour.

The whole room went wild. Screams and cheers erupted from the children, students, parents and supporters from the Casino and Lismore communities. The youth immediately leapt up and ran to the front. They joined together, singing and dancing joyfully.

Next up was a daggy dancing contest. After some hilarious dance moves, it was down to three people who showed off their moves. Based on a vote of the loudness of screams, two winners were chosen and were awarded with Emmanuel Worship albums.
The Lismore Net Team then did a drama. The youth sat quietly, taking in a beautiful message calling them to show God to others by helping them. The night continued with more songs until Pat Keady spoke. The Rosary- to Mary with love
Thursday (13th May) was the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. To celebrate this lovely feast, and give a 'little something' to our beautiful Mother, we gathered for a Rosary in the Cathedral, kneeling at the foot of Her shrine. We all took a turn saying a decade.
The Rosary has been Mary's favourite prayer since the 12th Century. That's the 1300's- how ancient is that!!
But despite being old, the Rosary has never gone out of date. In fact, devotion to praying it has spread, though the 'Rosary' they said hundreds of years ago is a little different to the one people say worldwide today.
If you want to know more about the Rosary, go here for some history- http://www.personalizedrosaries.com/history.html
And if you'd like to know HOW to say this special prayer- http://www.rosary-center.org/howto.htm
AND if you're really sad that you didn't get to join us, don't worry!! October is the month of the Rosary, (May being the month of Mary) and we're planning some amazing things for that- we'll post as we get them figured out.
God bless you!

Welcome!
Hi!
My name is Elyse and at the moment I'm the person editing this blog. Later on, as I get more people blogger savvy, you'll be hearing from pretty much every person on the Lismore Youth Core Team.
The Core Team are the leaders of our Catholic youth groups, which are (at the moment) Compass and Voltage.
Voltage is a high-powered night for kids in years 7-10. The focus is on learning about your faith, PLUS playing a lot of incredibly fun games.
Date: Every Sunday
Time: 6-8pm
Venue: Parish Centre, just outside the Cathedral
Bring: A smile, a friend, and please wear trousers- the games need them!
Note: You might like to attend Sunday night Mass at the Cathedral, beginning at 5pm. Afterwards, you just go next door for a night of fun!
Compass is for young adults who want to share their faith and have a great discussion on a huge range of topics. The environment is relaxed and friendly- everyone is welcome!
Date: Every Wednesday
Time: 7-9pm
Venue: The NET house, 9 Keen St
Bring: An open mind, willingness to participate, and a good sense of humour
Note: Past topics include prayer, media vs Catholicism, abortion, and watching Horton Hears a Who, to name just a few.
So that's our youth groups. We have one other youth event which has the title Thursday Night Social Night.... ok, so we haven't really got around to naming that one.
It's just a social night at the NET house for any older teens and young adults to get together with other like-minded Catholics and relax and talk and watch a movie and play games... whatever we feel like!
Date: Every Second Thursday- see Calender for exact dates
Time: 7-9pm
Venue: NET house, 9 Keen St
Bring: Well, if you have any food just lying around the place that's just begging to be eaten... :D
Note: This night has been known to go for longer than 9pm because people wanted 'just one more round!!'
Hope to see you at one of the above!!
God bless,
Elyse
